Up to a year to move 30,000 Troops Is BS

Either some one is lying( probably) or the entire political leadership , both Congress and the current and last administrations should be held accountable for negligence for allowing our armed forces to whither away to the point where we can't move 30, 000 troops on a moments notice. This is absolutely absurd. Mr. President, if N.Korea crossed the DMZ tomorrow,  which they could as you know at any moment, by your  timetable for moving these forces the war would be over. Our light forces ( the kind of troops needed) are capable of being wheels up within  hours of notification,  at least they were when I served. How could our NATO partners have counted on our reinforcements if the Warsaw Pact moved on Western Europe during the cold war  with this pathetic movement schedule. This is unacceptable, and a Half Assed way of conducting a military effort.

Exit Strategy, you don't discuss quiting in the middle of a conflict (unless your a democrat), you commit to winning in the effort and only after victory has been secured should an orderly withdrawal be discussed. This reminds me in an abstract way of the following video.

Obama's War on Free Enterprise,  Fox News Channel, The U.S. Chamber of Commerce,The Health Insurance Industry and Freedom Loving Americans Everywhere  has provided an endless stream of opine material. Is it possible for the enemy of the state to be the state itself ? The greatest threat to our Liberty is the State'ism that the left is engaged in. Not only is it possible, it is what it is. The Congress of the United States, led by leftist  ideological fools (progressives) is on the verge of dragging our country over the socialist cliff into the oblivion of the Nanny State. From the United States of America to the United States Socialist Republic. Yup, "change" is coming, and at the rate we're borrowing and printing money, it is all we'l be left with. Two centuries of economic evolution being disassembled in short order in the name of  progressivism; more like
  PROGRESSIVE REGRESSION ! 
  The Health Reform Legislation is not about helping those in need, don't be fooled. It is about controlling people. It is about securing political power by buying off the electorate with entitlements.

Whats new, once the election cycle democrat rhetoric gets cranked up, we will hear phrases like  "those mean nasty republicans will take away your benefits.(insert your health care).   An elected official (democrat)once told me that the first priority in politics is getting elected, the second priority is getting reelected.. Don't believe Obama,- about anything , eventually  you will loose your choices under this socialist scheme. It is only a matter of time.
 The Best Thing the Government Can Do Is Get The Hell Out of The Way
 Since secession is not a viable option,  and our state governments are too chicken-shit to stand up to the Progressive Imperialist Hoard, would David please step forward, Goliath is trying to smother us. Our only legal recourse is the U.S.Supreme Court somehow, and the democratic process. How often have I heard a democrat(dirty word in my vocabulary) make reference to the fact that countries in Europe have state provided health care and we should too". We ain't Europeans ! 
 America didn't become great because of her government provisions, she became great because our founders had a vision of a people that could live free from tyranny in government. "Most bad government has grown out of too much government" - Thomas Jefferson. They adopted a constitution to secure those freedoms, they recognized God, Our Creator. The language of the Declaration of Independence recognized our creator and that our rights were endowed from God, not from a government. That is why the left seeks to chase the liberating power of christianity out of the public discourse. So that people will mistakingly come to the belief that the Constitution granted us rights. Such wrong headed idealogy as forwarded by Slick Willy. Bill Clinton. The Constitution is a contract between the people, the states and the federal government. It specifies what the government is granted the power to do on our and our states behalf, not what said government allows us to do. Somewhere along the way the godless left has through our education system tricked people into believing the latter over the former.
 This political circumstance that we are currently living with was brought about by a combination of a racially inclined faction,  an economic crisis(still on going), an unpopular war, and a republican leadership that was deserving of being tarred and feathered rebuke. The Change that was brought into power has thus far proven to be worse than any status quo.

God's Speed Senator Kennedy, however.....

Senator Kennedy is dead and I ain't not feeling to great either. Naw,  "I'm in great shape, for the shape I'm in". Political icons have passed before us. President Reagan's "State" Funeral was a moving event for the greatest Commander-in-Chief   since "TR". Ok, I'm right wing biased. Thats the left's fault ! I thought the coverage of Senator Kennedy's passing was fitting and appropriate, although I tried to watch as little of it as possible. We can't let the left use the emotion of the moment to galvanize support for Nationalized Health Care legislation. They will try to use the late senators legacy to recast the latest attempt at socialized medicine into something like a "Kennedy Health Reform Act" or something. You know they will.. We've got to keep up the fire against the radical lefts agenda to implement this "trojan horse" policy. It is socialism getting the foot more in the door that it already has. With the G O P losses in the last election, and Senator Sphinkter Spector's defection and Al Freakin Frankin's win in Minnisota the Democratic Party had a fillabuster proof  super majority in the senate. Hopefully not any more, if only temporarily.

Whose Blog is this anyway ?

I got home a while ago, too wound up to unwind, and I thought I'd check out the blog to see what was going on, and found it just how I left it. On auto pilot. Since this is in its own little hidden corner on the internet, and its just a hobby interest anyway, who is going to notice. No "Jackasses of the day" for a few days now. Thar's not good, that means they are no doubt huddling. I don't want to be unfair about this, The Democrat party is "The Jackass Nation". "Asses all ! It is only when one distinguishes himself or herself do they get recognized accordingly with this dubious distinction.
Maybe Congressman Barney Frank, he had a town hall today; can't find any "youtubery" on it yet.
I've said there are some good congress persons ( all GOP, hehehhe) worth keeping, but worth the sacrifice to turn them all out. But some of these Dems like "Slobbering Barney", Cellphone Sheila, Corrine "The Gator" Brown. to name a few, they're real keepers.

Today's Recipient of this blogs esteemed "Jackass of the Day" award goes to the Honorable Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX). Town Haling while Cell Phoning. Cellphone Sheila just can't put that phone down when she is being addressed by a citizen. What the ??l What a "Jackass". Is this the pinnacle of congressional rudeness or what. I hope someone does the same to her when she is chairing one of her committees on the hill. She will have deserved it. I'm sure she is well entrenched in her district to survive reelection. I can't imagine her going down in defeat. Which is a good thing. She represents her party well. I'd hate to see Cellphone Sheila out of office. Like I have said there are some good congress persons worth keeping, but worth the sacrifice in an election to turn out the whole bunch. We need to keep Battleship Sheila in commission as long as possible. Perhaps some etiquette retraining wouldn't hurt though.

Wednsday's ramblings

What is bringing people out of the wood work? Is it the current debate over health care, or a growing mistrust among the American People of the Obama Administration and the Democrat Party. I think there is a "great awakening" among the American electorate. People are rediscovering what it means to be a people of Liberty. America is waking up. Why, because we know a sleazy sales pitch when we see one. Who do these guys think they are fooling ? How can we start up a new entitlement program as this will be and it be deficit neutral. We can't, it's impossible. Why are they in such a rush to pass this, because 2010 is an election year and the National Socialist Democrat (NSD) Party will never survive the next election with its majority intact if this debate rolls into the election season. They may not now anyway (hehe). But for now we are stuck with 'em. Assuming our Republic survives in it's present form long enough to make it to the "mid terms", the left is supplying plenty of issues for the fodder. I think what many people fear is the sense that our government is growing out of control, and the person at the controls has us on the wrong tracks. Socialism.

They contrive emergencies to justify government action.. An emergency was 9/11, an emergency was Hurricane Katrina's aftermath.Bailing out automobile manufactures to avoid their inevitable bankruptcy, firing the CEO of the company and then converting their bailout into government ownership, fascism ! Bullying debt holders to orchestrate bankruptcy proceedings. Thuggish ! An emergency is not spending money to avert a notional economic collapse that in reality was a market adjustment in an economic cycle. Passing a hurried, virtually unread, huge seven hundred plus billion dollar, one thousand ear mark spending fiasco, of which most will not kick in until 2010(election year) GO FIGURE !

Whether the political regime is Republican, or National Socialist Democrat as is now the case, whether the situation is real or manufactured as is now the case, the following pattern seems to happen. Create the sense of an emergency to justify the urgency to pass legislation into law to expand the role, power, and authority of government. The expanded government footprint almost never is reigned in, another layer of bureaucracy thus becomes entrenched. The law of unintended consequences must be considered when establishing new bureaucratic endeavors especially with regard to how future administrations use them.

We have Congressional over site, but as we have seen with the last two administrations, both Obama and Bush, when the power is concentrated in one party with both Congress and the President, the threat of Tyranny emerges because the willingness of congress to police its own parties president is not there. As the political divide continues to widen the swing in policy becomes more drastic. A program, policy, agency, or bureau that was once created as a deterrent against external threats could be used as a weapon against legitimate domestic descent. In this situation I am referring to the creation of a certain federal agency following 9/11. Upon the regime change, a short time there after the secretary of a department came out with a statement that identified right of center ideological entities as being suspicious. What ? Is the political infrastructure and only the powers that be knowing only what else is nearly in place preparing to bring about Change that nobody will want once implemented. If I sound suspicious I am.

The Catalyst of Change must be avoided. But what would that be ? Social unrest. Fringe groups stepping outside the political system inciting violence, or nothing. We must continue to use the democratic process to preserve the Republic in the present form that has been effective for over two centuries. If the threshold is crossed by a regime upon which our current form of government no longer exists, then the conversation must modified to correlate to the new paradyme. I don't believe that is a discussion we want to have under the present circumstance.

Being off from work this week has given me the opportunity to catch up on this Health Care Reform Debate, Today Democrat Senators McCaskill(MI)and Specter(PA) entertained some well deserved questions from their state constituents. I think both Senators handled their crowds professionally, unlike Congressman Scott(D-GA13th). I think the best moment was when McCaskill asked her constituents if they trusted her, and with unity the chorus responded "NO". It reminded me of this scene from Monty Python's "Life of Bryan"

Well, a little abstract I guess but that's rarely used brain cells trying to wake up.

Congratulations to Speaker of the House Nancy Peloci, and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer; two esteemed leaders of the National Socialist Democrat Party, and "Jackasses of the Day".
The Jackass, the symbol for the Leftist Democrat Party. How appropriate, how becoming. These two "asses" referred to American citizens who oppose Health Care Reform Legislation at these town hall meetings as "UN-American" in this USA TODAY Opinion/Editorial.

How hypocritical, and typical. I really think Speaker Peloci is more apt at foot-in-mouth disease than Vice President Biden, and that's saying something. Speaker Peloci's self appointed deplomatic/ whatever you want to call it trip to Syria: UN AMERICAN !Anyone who passionately disagrees with the Speaker's leftist point of view must be un-american .

I think it is "un-American in what these two and there leftist colleagues are pushing on the American people with this intrusive socialist agenda of a bill in HR 3200. It is Un American for the federal government to enter into competition with the private sector. That is Socialist, and UN AMERICAN

This seal is that of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. If the legislation currently known as HR 3200 eventually becomes law, the Secretary of DHHS will in fact be no doubt the most powerful cabinet position in the Federal government. Powerful from having the greatest impact on individual lives.
I oppose this legislation because of its invasive compulsory nature. If this bill did not include a mandatory option for insurance coverage, I might be more open to it in some drastically scaled down version. The fact is it is not voluntary. You the American citizen will be required to have Health Care Insurance. You will have no choice in the matter. If you are not enrolled in a federally accepted plan, you will be required to take basic coverage offered in the public option. If you do not, you will be fined. Yes this legislation is to be enforced under the IRS code, for every month you do not have coverage, you will be fined. Now I believe that everyone should have some sort of insurance, but to make this mandatory goes entirely to far. We are a free people, we have liberty, within the constraints of the Law. This legislation takes free will away from the American people. It is both invasive in principle and tyrannical because it imposes penalty on anyone who would otherwise elect to not take any coverage in favor of say a medical savings account. Oh, you can opt out under certain conditions if you can prove you are a member of a religious sect that does not accept medical treatment.
Now that is my second issue with this bill. Since when is it our government's business where or how we practice our faith. This is a second violation of our liberty.
Tyranny, it was Thomas Jefferson who commented that "where people fear the government , there is TYRANNY; where the government fears the people, there is LIBERTY. I ask you the American Citizen, do you live in Tyranny, or Liberty.
Now the Federal government could in fact cover the uninsured without this invasive policy, but it wouldn't have the level of control over individual lives that it will if HR 3200 becomes law.
This legislation is more about control than it is about helping people in need.

So what is going on with this so called Health Care Reform effort on the part of the RADICAL LEFT. Obviously people are rightfully outraged at democrat efforts to take governmental control of health care. The Federal Government of the United States through socialist engineering is moving ever closer to a state tyranny over the American people. In this bill, I find where anyone who does not take health care will be fined. Let no one fool you, democrats use the lable "progressive" but there is nothing progressive about their programs. If any thing this democrat led government is an excercise in what I call "Progressive Regression". Progressive, more like Socialist or Fascist. Descent is under attack. I know many of us have seen the concerned citizens voicing their opinions to their local representatives, and excercising their right to freedom of speech and coming under attack for doing so.
How about this, a tax on individuals without acceptable health care coverage. Yup, In HR 3200 Subpart A, sec59. You will be taxed if you do not have what the federal government deems "acceptable" insurance.
Oh, exemptions include "religious sect" in other words if you are into a religous sect that refrains from medical care, and yah you have to prove it. then your exempt. Subpart A, sec59b,c(5).
That alone is an assault on our liberty. Now I believe that it is in ones best interest to have some kind of health care insurance. But to mandate this through law, and enforce it through the IRS is nothing short of tyrannical. I believe that this current stock of democrat controlled congress and the usurper-in-chief with it's neo- marxist agenda who occupies the White House seems to be attempting to transform our Republic into what may one day become a totalitarian state, or in the least a European style welfare state. They, the National Socialist Democrat Party are expanding government control over the American People through "Socialist" engineering. This is more about control than helping people in need.They truly represent an assault on the freedoms and liberties that have been cherished in this country since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In fact the spirit of the Declaration of Independence", its meaning is under assault. Liberty is under assault. Freedom is under assault !
I took an early view of, give the guy a chance but a sense of a sinister agenda behind this administration lingered. Everyday I have hoped that it would somehow convince me that I was wrong in my gut about it. So far this administration has done nothing but reinforce my views; although I am still holding out hope.

How about the rat your neighbors out effort. That in itself is "fishy".



Right out of Nixon's playbook. And I thought Obama was "Carteresque". Maybe as weak(er) as Jimmy Carter in foreign policy, and as paranoid as Nixon domestically. That is bad. So can we assume that the "plumbers" are out stopping leaks. Who knows, that was a covert team. Obama, and the radical left seem to have the SEIU(Service Employees International Union) in his hip pocket to thug out the voices of descent. Much more overt.

And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers; though they sold much less of their products. Others simply gave up and went out of business, and the economy sank like unto a rock dropped from a cliff. The banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a crawl. And more of the people were without a means of support.

So " The One" again blamed the prior administration, extended unemployment benefits to a year, bailed out his favorite banks, and then took over the banks and auto industries. " The One" said, "I am the " The One" - The Messiah - and I'm here to save you! We shall just print more money so the government will have enough!" "Surely one trillion dollars will make everyone happy." And immediately the Fed complied and the money presses roared.

And China reconsidered their one trillion dollars of loans to the US , and threatened to call in their debts.

Other foreign trading partners said unto " The One", "Wait a minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have to pay more.. for everything.. as your dollar becomes worth less."

And the people said, "Wait a minute. That is unfair!!"

And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic programs you have embraced.

Lo, you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. What factories are not owned by your government are owned by us. Now you shall play by our rules!"

And " The One" said "Americans are arrogant, divisive, and derisive!" "We will listen."

But yea verily, it was too late. The people eventually set upon " The One" and spat upon him and stoned him, and his name was dung. But the once mighty nation was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or shelter or hope.

Change, you can believe it has arrived. I believe it, but I don't believe in it. If Jefferson could only see us now. "Most bad government has grown out of too much government". This didn't start with the Obama Administration, but it sure has sped up since his inauguration. I didn't vote for that fellow. Nor would I in this lifetime either. Our march toward Socialism has moved up to a "quick time" pace. Were it not for those patriots who attend these events in great numbers making their voice heard the pace would be at double time. The party that balked at Reagan for raising the National Debt, that prided itself on higher taxes during the Clinton years to lower said debt, is now the author of quadrupling it over the next decade. Congratulations "Jackasses". Now our Government is the fifty one percent co owner of America's largest auto manufacturer, GM; partial owner of Chrysler, countless banks, the largest insurer in the world (AIG), oh Fannie Mae, Freddie Mack and if they get away with it will be the largest guarantor of Health coverage too. Ok, I admit it, I confess I don't write much, especially lately. I happen to be a You Tube user in my posts. I hope you can't over use it. Where would my posting be without it. I have no real writing background to speak of. After college the most writing I did was when I entered the Armed Forces. US Army. So I rely heavily on You Tube. Thankfully there are a lot of people out there whose talent I can fall back on for conveying an opine or two politically. I would be remiss if I didn't share these. We ought to run out the whole bunch and start over. Well almost all of them. I will go out on a limb and say I'd just as well see a complete turnover in congress. The few who are worth keeping are worth the sacrifice to get rid of the whole lot just for a true fresh start so I say boot them all.

An Open Letter To Retired General and Former Secretary of State Collin Powell. A man whose service to our nation I have always greatly admired.

Mr. Powell, General Sir, Who are you to call yourself a Republican when you endorsed Barrack Obama. RINO you are, Republican In Name Only. No right minded republican would vote for Obama, in my opinion you are not republican at all. Where is my nurf football, I need something to toss at the screen when my fox news puts your latest comment on there. You endorse Obama and then turn around and want to act like a GOPer. Your a democrat posing as a republican. You made your choice. You and Senator Specter.  I see right through your ruse. It's called divide and conquer.
 

 Well General, you've got you're twelve trillion dollar deficit. How prophetic. Pontificator General Sir. May God Bless You General Powell, But you are no Republican. Who do you think you are fooling ! Apparently some. It is really quite remarkable that you, a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs,  a former Secretary of State, and advisor to at least four presidents would have endorsed someone with as little experience as then Senator Obama over John McCain. Well, I was appalled then, but hay endorse who you want to. But why should we listen to you now. Go fishing General. Do what ever Generals, few of which are your stature do.

I think maybe he'd dip the flag too if carrying "Old Glory" into the opening ceremony at the Olympics when passing in review of the host country's head of state. I wouldn't put it past him. Change we can do without.

 Barack Obama is our President. When he was inaugurated I hoped  for the best, that he would prove me wrong of my impressions of what his Presidency would be like. I still do. So far he hasn't. Unfortunately it may be worse than I could have imagined. I believe that the American electorate has made a terrible mistake. I can understand why so many voted the way they did. Job loses, and a relatively bad final two years of the former administration. A historic election, an epic event in the history of this land. Now what ?? Have liberal fascists hijacked the Office of President of The United States ? I hope not. I hope I'm wrong.

Hope, a simple word that I have now used three times. Change, I think that's a word that became a theme, actually Hope and Change were themes in Senator Obama's campaign to become President. It worked. But, Hope for what? Change to what ? Now that he is President, what has changed ? We no longer are fighting a war on terror, we are engaged in "Ongoing Contingency Operations"(OCO), what an insult to our military. China, and Russia are committing themselves to expanding their military capabilities both conventional and otherwise. According to the UPI the two former communist rivals recently completed their first joint military training exercise. The administration has sent overtures to Iran, and if I'm not mistaken Syria; both supporters of Hezbollah. Two nations that are sworn enemies of one of our closest allies, Israel, as well as state sponsors of terrorism. The possibility of a one world currency. 

A Treasury Secretary that was a Tax Cheat. Have "the nuts taken over the nut house" ?
Then there is the Budget. The President is pushing forward a massive spending fiasco that will be greater than the combined budgets of all administrations  from George Washington to George W Bush. Nearly ten trillion dollars in ten years. Check Card, Cap and Trade, Nationalized Health Care. Go figure. 

 Meanwhile we are so preoccupied with bad economic news, dis- informed by a politically biased media, a government bureaucracy that is so vast there is no way of keeping up with all the policy changes through executive orders. Stroke of the pen, law of the land.   I never thought I would be fearful of the future, but I am. I  have always thought of Thomas Jefferson's words such as those quoted previously (below) as from someone wanting to create a better world than the one they had previously known. But also as a warning to future generations. Now those words are bordering on prophetic. Could it happen here. Has it already happened here. The one that worries me most is Tyranny.

Is our precious Constitution on life support ? Do enough people care ? Or are we so caught up in worldly distractions to notice the surreptitious transformation that is taking place. Is this just my illusion, coupled with post election sour grapes conjuring up a conspiracy theory. 

I hope  so, but I think not.

When a former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and  history professor uses the "D" word in describing where this administration is orienting, that worries me.

 Big Time ! D is for dictatorship.  Either Time or Newsweek, I think it was Time had Obama portrayed on the cover in the likeness of FDR. He ain't no FDR ! 

I think Albert Einstein said "we all sit on the shoulders of a giant (Sir Issac Newton).

I believe the Giant of our time is Reagan.

When our President was nominated, I decided that I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. There was really nothing too this, if one of us had said it we might have seemed a bit insensitive as he did, but we're not the President. Your not suppose to do that when your the president Mr President ! Of course we don't have a teleprompter to read from either. Neither did our fearless leader. I think the real Obama comes out when the teleprompter is still packed up in the trunk of the limo. What does it mean to me, he's just like anyone else. No big deal, an unguarded moment for our Teleprompter in Chief.

The Pride of Jacksonville

For a couple of days now this video has been out. Florida congresswoman Corrine Brown(D-Jacksonville)  takes the floor of the U.S. House congratulating her Florida Gators on the 2008 National Championship. I can count at least six other blogs that I have found this on in the last ten minutes. Hay more power to yah Mrs Congresswoman. This is just too good to leave alone. This blogs title is Sports, Politics and More. The video covers two of these. I was not going to go with this because I found it elsewhere but it is out there and why not.   

Thought I'd share some pics from way back !

This picture was taken in September of 1985 in Athens at the Georgia vs. Alabama game. Dooley's Dawgs lost that night 16-20. We were in the metal bleachers on the west end between the Alabama and Georgia sections. This QB named Mike Shula threw the winning touch down just below us to the left. That section was nuts for a few minutes. Georgia had went ahead with a minute to go before Shula drove them down the field for the win. 

The pictures below are from the Sun Bowl played in El Paso Texas on December 28 1985 between UGA and Arizona. I was invited out there by my Aunt, Uncle, and first cousin Mike.  Mike is that fellow on the left, I'm that other guy. Mike is a Georgia Bulldog through & through, and great guy.

Georgia Southern Feasibility Study

Many may not know that Georgia Southern University is conducting a feasibility study to determine what is needed to move up to football bowl subdivision ( FBS) the former 1A from football championship subdivision (FCS) formerly 1AA. Georgia Southern has a short but rich history in the last twenty seven years after restarting the program that was dormant since 1941. Since the first press conference when former UGA defensive coordinator Coach Erk Russel was hired to be the head coach for the eagles, Georgia Southern has won six 1AA National Championships, eight Southern Conference Championships, and made sixteen playoff appearances. The last championship was in2000 against Montana. In 1999 The Eagles,  coached by  Paul Johnson defeated Youngstown State coached by Jim Tressel  59-24.  Adrian Peterson, the junior running back from Georgia Southern was awarded the 1999 Walter Payton Award as the Nation's top 1AA offensive player.

What's with our new leadership in Washington

Ok, I can handle my favorite team(s) losing a football game or something because I know that the term limit is only one year. Like you dawg fans out there that felt the sting of the yellow bug, and I don't mean some tropical disease. I mean those buzzy bees from that so called Technical Institute called Georgia Tech. Like Georgia, presidential candidate Senator McCain had a lousy second half. That democrat ground game chewed them up in the second half and sent the Republicans licking there wounds to the locker room. Unfortunately we have to wait four long years to get another opportunity to put the leftists in their rightful place, out of the White House. I have been in a state of denial since November. Reality set in when President Obama was sworn in and I couldn't bare to watch my Fox News Shows. Kinda like a Dawg fan after the whipping that Bama put on-um in the sacred grounds of Sanford Stadium. Nothing forces me into an " I wish they would just shut up with that" more than hearing the Tiders yelling that "Hay Dawgs"rammer jammer chant with the "we just beat the hall out of you !" crap that they indulge themselves in after a big win . Just as bad as watching the Democrats at their convention in '92 do the Macarana  (spelling?) Oh please , direct me to the nearest barf bag ! 

So we have to put up with this re run of the Carter Administration. Staring Hillery Clinton as the Secretary of State, and a host of ex Clintonistas in various cabinet roles, like Leon Poneta as CIA Chief. If this weren't real I'd think the cast of characters came out of a Mel Brooks comedy. But this ain't no joke. Just ask the Pols who the Administration tried to bargain their missile defense away with Russia for help dealing with Iran. Just Damn. Or How about the attempt to find agreeable Taliban to court. What ?? .  I might as well get the chips and dip ready, oil up the recliner lever because this is gonna be fun to watch, but not that funny. I just don't know how long we the United States survive this long four quarter tilt with so many fumbles already.

My First Blog

Last week, Kimberly and I got the cameras out there and recorded some scenes of the big snow. At the time I had no idea that I would be doing this blog thing, although I have been pondering the idea for a while.  Sunday I was looking for a link to a site that I had made a post on and somehow came up with this blogger that I had registered on  previously to make a post. I think it was on GeorgiaSports Blog or something. I clicked on the "create a blog" tab and that's how this got started. I had no great vision of what I wanted to do with it. I have interests in sports, politics and other stuff like amateur radio which I haven't found a spot to incorporate into this yet if ever. My main interest in sports is of course college football. We are right here on the cusp of "March Madness" of NCAA Basketball and I have to admit I am not an avid basketball follower, or baseball either so I may have bitten off more than I can chew at this but hopefully over time this blog and I will evolve in diversity of other sports. 

Politically I am right of center. I consider myself to be a conservative, but not totally Republican. Politics isn't something I get into at work, or in church which is about the extent of my social life simply because for me those are the  wrong places  for it.  You never know who is going to be offended accidentally, so I thought here is a great environment to post my views or rants at the time and maybe get some feed back through some healthy political discourse. National Politics always seems to be the center of attention even when we have bone headed local politicians piddling around under our noses with various agendas.  Of course government should be there as a social instrument to resolve issues of one kind or another even if it means getting out of the way to do it. That's something our friends on both the left and right haven't quite figured out yet. 

So, I don't know if this is a going to grow into a sports blog of very amateur content with political distractions or vise versa. I invite anyone who stumbles in here to post your thoughts. 

Big Snow in Bethlehem

As everyone in North and Middle Georgia knows Sunday March 1 2009 was anything but normal. It started out as a rain soaked day, keeping this dog on the porch, and the four legged dogs in their little houses. The ground was completely saturated with water, and my Kimberly, who was suffering from a tooth ache had determined that we wouldn't be going to church. About 1230pm I got a call from my mother who lives about a mile and a half away asking if we had looked out the window.  What a surprise. I had given up on any snow for the year, but this one made up for several years worth. I thought with the ground so saturated with water, the snowfall would just hit the ground and be gone. Another surprise, It accumulated. about three inches worth on the hood of our car. This probably wouldn't have been such a shock had I paid any attention to the weather forecast.

This was a great weather event, aside from the fifteen hour power outage that followed. Fortunately it didn't knock me out of work. I have never heard thunder during a snow, but it did. The precipitation was not snow flakes, it was snow balls, we got bombed and it was great !
